Downloadable Fonts

There are several non-standard fonts used in the intended display of this site. It is not necessary to install these fonts in order to use this site.

Bearpaw.ttf
The Bearpaw font is used in certain links.

Buffied.ttf
The Buffied font is used only for the == BtVS == divider lines.

Eurostile.ttf
The Eurostile font is used in many locations. It is also a font option for reading the stories.
If you don't have Microsoft’s Eurostile, the freely available Eurostile-Roman-DTC is provided here as a substitute.

Download All Three TrueType Fonts in a single zip file. Then install any or all of the fonts as you choose.

I recommend installing the Buffied font, at the very least. The scene dividers look much better in it.

These fonts are freely available and were originally downloaded from Webpage Publicity.

(Just a reminder: you will have to restart your browser to see any newly installed fonts.)

Read this if you have Windows XP.

Part of Windows Vista is a new core ClearType font set: Constantia, Corbel, Calibri, Cambria, Candara, Consolas, and Segoe UI. These fonts are optimized for and are highly readable on LCD screens. This site is now optimized to use these fonts if you have them installed.

But XP users, don’t despair. There is a way to get these new fonts for free from Microsoft. If you have an LCD screen, you really should take advantage of this freebie. To get the fonts, you need to install both the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats and the ClearType Tuner PowerToy. The fonts are part of the Compatibility Pack and the ClearType tuner is needed for XP to properly render ClearType fonts, otherwise they may look quite ragged.

If you have an LCD screen, your eyes will thank you.

Read this if you don't have Verdana.

Many years ago, Microsoft released several core fonts with most of their software sold since then. To increase distribution, Microsoft also made these fonts freely available for download. Because almost all computers now have these fonts installed, Microsoft no longer has them available on their site. However, the license and permission to redistribute them is still there.

Nicholas Shanks’ Typography Page is such a redistribution site where these fonts are available for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.

If you are in the tiny percentage of people who don’t already have these fonts, you should install them as they are very commonly used in web design. If you don’t already have Verdana, I highly recommend getting it, at the very least. I find it to be the most comfortable for reading.
