Kissing Dawn

========== BtVS ========== BtVS ========== BtVS ========== BtVS ========== BtVS ==========

Buffy paced back and forth in front of the couch, hands clasped behind her back, hair pulled into a tight braid. Anyone observing the Slayer would have been able to see the anger and confusion, even disbelief, flashing across her taut features.  Dawn was doing just that, eyes never leaving her active sister.  The teenager had practically flung herself over the arm of the couch, her entire body screaming to be rid of the situation.  Being a teenager, Dawn was rife with impatience and, already used to being the one always in trouble, was simply ready to get it all over with.

Tara , however, sat in the corner chair, silent and unmoving.  Her legs were drawn up to her chest, her chin on her knees and one arm wrapped around her legs.  Her other hand covered her full lips as if trying to keep the still stunned mouth from falling open.  Her eyes never left the floor, though she was painfully aware of both Buffy and Dawn’s movements.

Willow wasn’t sure how much time had elapsed since she and Dawn had followed the angry Slayer and hurt Tara into the living room.  At least ten full minutes, Willow deduced.  Only twice had Willow glance up and both times she saw the exact same sight.  Buffy’s face contorting in indecision about how to start and Tara , stock still and silent.  It was killing her to see her lover like this.  She knew she had messed up in the biggest way and had hurt Tara , but she didn’t know how she would ever be able to right the situation, to make it up to her, or to convince everyone involved that she didn’t mean for anything to happen, and that it would never, under any circumstances, happen again.

The lump in her throat was getting bigger and she knew that soon she wouldn’t be able to keep the tears from falling.  Guiltily she admitted to herself though, that besides feeling terrible for hurting the one woman she loved, she was also hugely embarrassed for being found making out with her best friend’s 15 years old sister.  It was that one thought that would not leave her alone.

Dawn couldn’t stand the tension any longer, she’d have to speak up or hang herself.  She wasn’t looking forward to either one, but she knew she could handle whatever damage Buffy was willing to throw at her.  She sat up and opened her mouth to say something about how sorry she was, about how neither of them meant for it to happen.  But before she got the chance Buffy quickly pivoted and began a heavy verbal assault on the red head on the other end of the couch.

Willow ’s body jerked at the sudden barrage of words aimed in her direction.  Her head shot up, catching the Slayer’s eyes briefly with her own before averting her gaze, while the rest of her tried without success to melt into the tan cushions of the couch.

“How could you do this?” Questioned Buffy.  “I mean of all the… do you have any idea…?  I can’t believe you’d do this!  I can’t believe you’d do this to Tara Willow! You… Will she’s 15! She’s my sister! You’re 21! You’re like her fucking aunt or something!”

“I know…” Willow tried to agree, to tell Buffy that she knew this, that it was all a mistake.  But Buffy wasn’t hearing any of it, however.

“Oh you do? Tell me Will… what do you know?”

“I-I…”

“Because apparently whatever you know left your brain when you put your tongue in my sister’s mouth!”

The blunt harshness of the Slayer’s words hung in the air like thick smog.  Dawn watched the interaction in wide-eyed, mouth-opened wonderment.  She couldn’t recall ever seeing her sister this mad, at least where Dawn was concerned. <Oh my God…> She thought.

Tara was equally amazed.  She had slowly raised her eyes to watch Buffy lay into the love of her life.  Instincts were telling her to jump to Willow ’s defense, to stop Buffy’s verbal assault.  The image of her Willow and Dawn kissing and groping each other on the same bed she and Willow shared stopped any impulse to defend her girlfriend, however.  She stayed in her chair, quietly watching her fellow witch and lover flinch at the sour words sprayed upon her by their best friend.

“Was this the first time?”

“Yes!” Willow shouted.

“Why don’t I believe that?!” Buffy shot back.

“It was… I-I swear!” Dawn interjected, rising from the couch. “Buffy… please! It’s not her-”

Buffy spun on her heels, facing her distraught sister.

“Oh I’ll get to you in minute!” Buffy spat at her before turning her attention back on her redheaded best friend.

Dawn’s mouth shut automatically.

“Look… I don’t know how this happened and I’m not sure I want to know but… no, no wait… I take that back.  I do want to know… in fact… I would love to know how the hell my best friend and my BABY sister fall into bed together!”

“Whoa! Wait!” Shouted Dawn. <She makes it sound like we were having sex, which we so were not!>

Willow looked up and shook her head. “No… no there… no!”

“We were SO not…” Dawn agreed.

“Well it sure as hell looked like it was heading there!”

Willow leapt to her feet, looking between Buffy’s blazing eyes and the cool ones of her silent lover’s.

“No! Oh God no… I would never!” The pleading was evident in Willow ’s voice as she tried to convince both her best friend and her girlfriend that she would have never let it go that far.  But in her gut she wasn’t so sure. <How could I let this happen?> She questioned herself.

“Never what?” Buffy questioned. “Kiss her? Grope her? Fondle her?! You did all that Will… why not fuck her too!”

At those words Dawn jumped up and stood in definite challenge to her older and much stronger sister.

“Stop yelling at her!”

Buffy pivoted once more, taking in the sight of her sister’s flaming cheeks.  Buffy knew Dawn was furious at her choice of words and immediately wished she could take them back.  For the first time since this whole thing had unfolded, Buffy noticed just how grown up her sister was becoming.

“And stop talking like I’m not right here!” Dawn’s voice had only the hint of whine everyone was so used to.  “This isn’t all her fault Buffy.  I was there too ya know. Do you really think Willow would force me to do anything I didn’t want to do?!”

“Dawn…” Willow whispered, not able to meet the young girl’s eyes.

“No…” Dawn shook her head. “Buffy’s just assuming that I had no say in this… that I…”

“But Dawn… I’m supposed to be the adult here… I’m the one…”

“And stop treating me like a child… all of you!” Dawn looked around, catching Tara ’s eyes as well.

“Dawn… I have Tara … I never should have…”

“I know Willow … But it’s not all your fault… I know you’re with Tara… and I… I’m…” Dawn’s voice cracked, her anger slowly fading way to regret, and shame.

Buffy looked between the two girls, knowing there was something she was missing.  She also was aware that she had been treating this whole situation as if Dawn were a child and Willow some pervert. But it was slowly becoming clear now that her sister was indeed almost 16 and that Buffy herself had had plenty of experience in the make out department by then.  She looked toward Tara and noted the witch’s tears.  She mentally smacked herself, realizing for the first time that this should be about Willow and Tara .

“Look,” Buffy started in a much lower voice. “I think that… maybe me and Dawn need to talk… alone… and” She looked between the two witches. “You two… should…”

Willow ’s eyes met the floor but couldn’t bring them back up.

Tara nodded after a few seconds and lowered her feet to the floor.

After a few quiet moments of no one moving, Dawn suddenly went to Tara , sliding down on her knees in front of the older woman and with pleading eyes, asked for forgiveness.

Tara , I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean any of it… please don’t hate me... Tara , I-I’m so sorry. It’ll never happen again… you gotta believe me!”

Tara looked down at Dawn with sympathetic eyes.  She knew she could never hate the youngest Summmers girl and loved her like a sister.

“I know Dawnie…” Tara said, wiping away the tears from Dawn’s wet cheeks. “This is very hard for me,” She continued. “I just need some time to… think…”

Dawn nodded, knowing that things would probably never be the same between any of them and it was all her fault.

Buffy motioned for Dawn to follow her and the two headed up the stairs.

Willow had stayed silent, her eyes to the floor.

Tara knew Willow was sorry, could read it in her body language, had seen it in her eyes earlier. She wanted to forgive her, to forget what she had seen upstairs and go back to the way things had been, the way she had hoped things always would be.  She knew she couldn’t do that however, and wasn’t sure how she and Willow would get over this.

After several minutes of Willow ’s tears softly falling to her shirt, the round drops spreading into much larger round stains, she glanced up just in time to see Tara stepping toward her.

The sight of her lover made her heart ache and had it not been for the betrayal between them, she would have wrapped her arms around Willow and rocked her gently against her breast.

But as things were, Tara could only look at her, questions burning holes in her brain, questions she couldn’t bring herself to ask.

Willow broke down then, the silent tears turning into large sobs of “I’m sorry” and “Please.” She fell to her knees, pressing her face into Tara ’s soft belly while wrapping her arms around the witch’s legs and holding on as if her very life depended on it.

Tara stood stock still, wanting nothing more than to comfort her lover, but not letting herself forgive so easily.

“Oh Gods Tara ! Please please please… I’m so sorry!” Willow lamented, clinging greedily to Tara ’s skirt.

“Will…” Tara tried, her voice barely above a whisper.

She cleared her throat and put one hand on Willow ’s shoulder.

Willow .”

Willow quieted some after hearing her lover’s stern voice.

“Willow stand up.”

Willow continued to cling, fearing that the moment she was up and away from Tara that it would be for the last time.

“Please baby…” Came Tara ’s voice again, quieter, softer this time.

Slowly, Willow got to her feet, trying her hardest not to look into Tara ’s eyes.  Tara touched her gently under the chin and forced their eyes to meet.

“Please…” Willow tried to whisper.

“Shh…” Tara countered. “I know you’re sorry.”

“I-I…”

“Let me talk… okay?”

Willow nodded, never letting their gaze part.

“I-I know you’re sorry for what you did.  A-and I know you… you w-won’t do it again.” Willow nodded vehemently in agreement. “B-but I don’t know… h-how you could do this? H-how you could do this to m-me…?”

For the first time since standing up, Willow wasn’t able to keep her eyes locked with her lover’s as the shame of her acts flooded her, causing her to avert her gaze down near Tara’s neck.

“W-willow… look at me.”

The redhead’s forehead creased in frustration.

“Look at me.” Tara ’s stern voice came again and Willow , never able to disobey that voice, brought her eyes up to meet Tara ’s once again, as fresh tears trailed down her pink cheeks.

Tara wiped those tears away absently.

“I need some space… s-some time… t-to think about this…”

Willow knew this was coming, she had felt it building since sitting down on the couch and noticing Tara ’s silent struggle.

“I’ll leave.” Offered Willow , silently pleading for a way to fix this without one of them having to leave, but knowing full well that when Tara made up her mind, it was made.

“No Will… I… I can’t be around Dawn right now either… y-you understand… right?”

Again, Willow only nodded.

Upstairs, the two sisters sat down on Dawn’s full size bed, neither speaking for what felt like forever in Dawn’s opinion.

“Okay…” Started Buffy, trying to keep calm and her voice cool. “You know, what happened…”

“I said I was sorry… I know it was wrong!”

“Okay… good… just, calm down Dawn, I’m not going to yell at you.”

“You’re not?”

“No…”

“Well you sure cussed Willow out.”

“Well… maybe I was a bit harsh on her… I just couldn’t believe you two… Okay, you know what… I’m not going to do this… I want to talk about something else, because you know what you two did was wrong and I know you are sorry for hurting Tara like that… and I know that Willow is probably begging on her hands and knees right now for Tara to forgive her… so…”

Dawn was confused.  If Buffy hadn’t brought her up here to yell at her, or at least lecture, then what did she want to do?

“So tell me Dawn… what the hell happened?”

“I thought you said you didn’t want to talk about it anymore?”

“No… I said I wasn’t going to yell at you and point out all the reasons why what you and Willow did was so wrong.”

“Oh…”

“But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to know what happened and mostly… why?”

Dawn took a deep breath, knowing her sister had an acute sense of when she was being lied to. Dawn braced herself to tell the truth and lay it all down for her sister.

“Okay…” Started Dawn. “Short story… really. “I went to Willow for advice… we talked. I was… um… scared, or uh… nervous about something… and she uh… she said she’d help me be… more confident… a-and I agreed that it might work.  So… um… we kissed and the next thing I know I’m pulling her on top of me and um… then I’m uh… pulling her skirt up… a-and…”

“Okay…!” Buffy got up, putting her hands in the back pockets of her blue jeans. “Got the picture already, thanks.”

“Well you asked…”

“Look… I know what you were doing…” Buffy turned around and looked at her sister. “Wait… you pulled her on top of you?”

“Y-yes…” Dawn’s eyes shot to the floor.

<Can this get any more embarrassing?> Thought Dawn, the color creeping into her cheeks.

“Oh…” Buffy had assumed Willow had pushed Dawn down, that she had been the aggressor.  Now it seemed she was seeing things a bit different.

“Um… Okay… about this advice. I don’t understand what you could possibly be asking of her that it would lead to kissing.”

Dawn flopped back on the bed, knowing it couldn’t possibly get any worse.

Buffy sat beside her sister, watching the teenager grapple with embarrassment.

“I…  I wanted to know… w-what it was like… to… kiss a girl.” Dawn sputtered out.

<Well you certainly know now.> Buffy thought.

“Uh… okay… and why?”

Dawn looked at Buffy incredulously.

<Is she serious?>

“Are you serious?”

“Yes.”

“Well duh Buff… I… like… them…”

“You… like girls?”

“Yes.”

Buffy looked around the room, wondering how on earth to deal with this new-found information.

<First my best friend, now my sister…>

“I guess I should have figured that out… with the whole… kissing Willow thing…” Buffy shrugged.

“Yeah…”

“So… this advice you asked… was about kissing a girl?”

“yeah.”

“Anyone… in particular?”

“yes.

“I see.”

“Rachel.”

“Excuse me?” Asked Buffy, unsure where this new name had come from.

“Her name is Rachel. She just turned 16, goes to school with me, very nice, you’d like her if you were ever here when she came over… a-and we’ve held hands and… um… wanted to kiss… but well I was kind of nervous and thought I could talk to Willow about it… a-and I swear on Mom’s grave that I never meant anything to happen. Willow just suggested that I-I could get the first… ya know… girl girl kiss… over with… with her and then… when me and Rachel… I wouldn’t be so… scared…  She was just trying to help Buffy… a-and then…” Dawn looked down into her lap, licking her lips as she noticed her mouth was dry from all the talking she was suddenly doing.

“I-it just felt so… good and I didn’t want to stop… so… I didn’t mean to… I…” Dawn shook her head, fresh tears welling up in her eyes as remembered the stunned and hurt look on Tara ’s face.

Buffy took in everything her sister had to say intently.  She realized that she really hadn’t been there that much for Dawn and before she even knew what was happening, Dawn was quickly growing up.  The girl was almost 16, was apparently exploring her sexuality, had a girlfriend, even in the tamest sense of the word, and Buffy was missing everything.

“Are you mad?” Asked Dawn quietly.

“Of course I’m mad... Willow and Tara-

“No.” Interjected Dawn. “I mean… a-about me… being… ya know…”

It took a second for Buffy to realize what Dawn was asking.

“No… I’m not mad about that… how could I be?”

“I… I don’t know… I-I was scared to tell you.”

“Sweetie… we have two very sexually active lesbians living in our house, one of whom has been my best friend for like… ever… why would I be upset that you were… that way… too.”

“That way?”

“I-I’m sorry… gay. Or… lesbian?”

Buffy looked to Dawn for approval.

“O-or… unless you’re not… are you bi? Do you like guys too… ‘Cause you know Willow was really in love with Oz for awhile and…”

“No… I… I guess I’m a… lesbian.  Rachel and I like queer though.”

“Queer?”

“W-well yeah… I mean… labels are just so… confining.”

“Oh… well… wouldn’t queer be a label too?”

“Well… sure… but… it’s more like taking the power away from those that use a negative word. Um… lots of things can be queer… I-I mean be definition you’re queer.”

“Huh?”

“W-well… not in a gay sense… but like… not normal ya know… I mean… ‘cause of the whole Slayer thing.”

“Oh…”

“A-anyway… a lot of people embrace negative language and make it theirs…”

Buffy just looked at her sister in awe.

“When did you get so grown up, Dawn?”

Dawn shrugged. “I don’t know… just been happening I guess.”

Buffy thought about this for a minute.  <She’s been growing up right in front of me and I haven’t even noticed.>

“So… you know you’re a… um… you know you’re queer… you have this… friend… and you guys… you haven’t kissed yet?”

Dawn put her head in her hands and groaned.

“It’s stupid…”

“Why?” Buffy asked her, running her fingers gently through Dawn’s long locks.

“Because… we’re either really nervous and we chicken out… or someone walks in on us… Rae shares a room with her older sister and she has an older brother too.”

“Oh…”

After a few moments, Buffy came to a decision.

“Okay… first things first.  No… whatever…” Buffy waved her hand in the air in emphasis. “between you and Will. Got it?”

“Oh God… of course! I told you-”

Buffy put up her hand and stopped her sister.

“I know… let me finish. Second, I want to meet this Rachel girl. Does she have a last name? What do her parents do? She’s not a vampire right?”

Dawn smirked. “Yes, she has a last name. Kushner.  A-and both her parents are lawyers… And no way is she a vampire.”

“Okay. Wait… Kushner and Kushner?  That’s her parents?”

“Yup.”

“Oh…”

“Anything else?”

“Don’t get smart… you’re still the one in trouble here… sort of…”

Dawn groaned.

“I want you to know that I’m okay with this… you and Rachel thing…”

“You can call her Rae… if you want… I do.”

“Oh… okay. Well, I’m cool with it.  A-and I know that you are at that age now where you will want to… um… kiss and stuff…”

Dawn could find nothing but humor in the embarrassing shades of pink that were creeping across her sister’s “look at me I’m the big bad slayer” face.

“… and I want you to know that that’s um… okay… and if you two want to hang out here… that’s I’m cool with that… but… just…” She took her sister’s hands in hers, looking Dawn in the eye. “Just take things slow, okay?  You have plenty of time to do… whatever.”

Dawn smiled, happy that Buffy was so accepting of her and Rachel’s relationship. <If you can call it that.> She thought.

Willow … told me the same thing… She said not to sweat the small stuff.”

“Well… generally Will’s very smart…” Buffy mumbled. “And she’s right. There’s plenty of time to do all sorts of stuff, you don’t have to rush into anything until you’re ready, until you feel comfortable and it’s something you both want.”

Dawn nodded, her own blush rising in her cheeks.

“Um Buffy?”

“What?”

“Okay, no offense… but this convo is bordering extreme embarrassment.”

“Oh… right…”

Buffy got up and moved toward the door.  She stopped briefly and gave Dawn a quick hug.

“I think… maybe we should… leave Willow and Tara alone for a little while, okay?”

Dawn nodded, wishing she could make everything better between the two witches, but knowing that nothing she did or say would help. Willow and Tara ’s relationship would depend on them alone.  <Besides,> Dawn thought, <I have a certain pink haired girl I want to see.>

========== BtVS ========== BtVS ========== BtVS ========== BtVS ========== BtVS ==========

It was Friday afternoon, school had just let out, and in only a few hours it would have been a whole day since “the incident,” as Dawn dubbed it.  She was waiting at her locker for Rachel, whose own locker, unfairly, was on another hallway.  Having gained an Okay from Buffy, Dawn had asked Rachel to spend the weekend at the Summers’ household. Rae had agreed right off the bat, knowing her parents would be cool with it, since they were both rather liberal when it came to their children’s social life.  As long as Rachel’s grades stayed up and she didn’t get in trouble, the Kushner’s let her and her older siblings, do most anything.

“Hey you.”

The halls had cleared and Dawn was studying the bulletin board near her red locker. She turned and saw Rae still struggling to push a book into her stuffed book bag.

“Hi!” Dawn bubbled over with excitement, offering to put the book in her own bag, which only seemed to consist of a notebook and the hated algebra text she took home every night.

“How do you do that?” Rae asked, pointing to Dawn’s small book bag.

“Do what?”

“Manage to take home like… no books whatsoever… I’m always lugging all this stuff.” She flicked her wrist up, pointing her thumb over her shoulder at the weight of books there.

“I think you take home more than you need.’

“I need it all.”

“On the weekend?”

Rae thought a moment, the tip of her tongue poking out between her full lips, just enough for Dawn to notice.

She nodded. “Yup.”

“Well I think you’re way too brainy for your own good.”

Dawn offered, pulling the other girl with her toward the double doors at the end of the hall.

“I thought you liked my brains.” Rae giggled as Dawn hurried her out the door.

“I do… in fact I like every inch of you!” Dawn quipped, raising her eyebrows in a humorous gesture.

“Oh really?” Taunted Rae, “All of me?”

“Uh huh!”

They were walking through the park, taking their usual route to Rae’s house, where she could pack an overnight bag.  They had quieted some, both knowing the tension that had built up over the last few weeks was still heavy between them.  They had done a lot of talking. And in fact, talking was all Rae thought they’d ever do.  She felt like a hypocrite.  She thought about Dawn constantly, thinking about what her lips would feel like, what her mouth would taste like.  But she couldn’t bring herself to get up the nerve to kiss her.  And every time she thought Dawn was going to kiss her they were either interrupted, or both of them got too nervous to continue.

The only time Rachel had gotten up the nerve to make a move, Dawn had fallen asleep. They had been watching a ‘Tales From the Crypt’ marathon with the lights off.  It was almost 2 a.m. and for almost 30 minutes Rae had been trying to work up the nerve to just lean over and kiss Dawn.  But when she finally managed, she saw that Dawn’s eyes were closed. Upon closer inspection, she realized that the other girl was sleeping, and just let it go.

Jarred out of her thoughts by Dawn’s tug on her arm, Rae was pulled behind one of the large oak trees and pushed against the rough bark by a leering Dawn.

“D-Dawn?”

“I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time.”

“Huummph…”

Dawn pressed her lips to Rae’s, sliding one hand around a hip, and touching the other to Rae’s cheek.

Rae was stunned, but quickly forgot her shock as the tension between them broke, sending tiny tingles of electricity from her lips to the rest of her body.

Dawn leaned into Rae’s body, feeling the other girl respond by wrapping her arms around Dawn’s waist and pulling her into a tighter embrace.

Dawn tugged on Rae’s lower lip with her own before sliding the tip of her tongue over it.  Rae opened her mouth slightly, inviting Dawn in and was immediately rewarded by a curious tongue. She met it with her own and slowly, gently, the two tangled while hands pressed against flesh in the open air of Sunnydales’ largest and most populated park.

Dawn could taste the watermelon gun Rae always chewed and it made her moan into the kiss, pressing her body even more firmly against her girlfriend’s. She felt Rae’s hand slide onto her ass, as they deepened the kiss. The feeling was nothing short of wonderful and Dawn knew she would want much, much more of this from Rae.

Rae was struggling against further exploring Dawn’s body.  They were in the park after all, and the last thing she wanted was for someone to see them. The cherry taste of Dawn’s lip-gloss was nearly intoxicating, however.

Both girls felt the familiar tingling in their lower bellies and the slight dampness in their panties.  They knew that this had to end soon because for one, they really weren’t sure what they should or could do next, and two, the most important reason, was that it was easy to lose track of time, and here, in Sunnydale, that was most definitely not a good thing.

Rachel broke the kiss off, closing her eyes and trying to regain control of her breathing. Dawn slumped against her girlfriend, her own breath coming in quick short puffs of air.

“Wow…” Admitted Rachel.

“Yeah…” Agreed Dawn.

“Tell me why we’ve been so weird about doing that?’

Dawn shook her head, nuzzling Rae’s neck.

The two girls stood holding each other for a few minutes, both lost in the deliciousness of each other’s embrace.

“We should… uh… go.” Dawn said finally pulling away from the pink haired girl in front of her, loving the way the sun played with the color.

Rae nodded, never taking her eyes from Dawn’s.

After calling her parents’ at the office, grabbing what she needed, and leaving a note with Dawn’s number, Rae locked the door back and grabbed her girlfriend’s hand.  The two walked the 3 blocks to Rivelo.

“Hello?” Dawn called out upon entering the house.

“In the kitchen!” Came Willow ’s voice, merrily.

Dawn smiled at Rae and took her black duffel bag.

“Be right back!”

Dawn ran up the stairs and down the hallway, depositing the bag on her bed before running back down to her waiting girlfriend.

“I’m back!”

“I see.” Responded Rae, smiling.

She followed Dawn into the kitchen and smiled a greeting at Willow who had glanced up from her laptop with a warm smile.

Dawn wasn’t sure how to act around Willow . They hadn’t talked since being walked in on and Dawn knew from Buffy that Tara had asked Xander to pick her up the night before and would probably be spending several nights on his couch.

“So watcha girls doing this weekend?” Asked Willow , her eyes still on the computer screen.

“Uh… we’re not sure yet.”

“Oh… well I’m sure you’ll think of something.”

She glanced up and caught Dawn’s questioning eyes. Willow winked and returned her focus to the information in front of her.

Dawn glanced at Rae to see if she’d seen the wink, but Rae had busied herself with a clothing catalog that was sitting on the counter.

Dawn already knew the answer, and although she didn’t want to hurt Willow , she needed to ask none-the-less.

“So where’s Tara ?”

Dawn registered the pained expression flash across Willow ’s features before facing the young girl again.

“She’s… at Xanders.  Sleeping on his couch.”

“Oh… when is she coming back?”

Willow glanced from Dawn to Rachel, who she had noticed was now looking on with interest.  Willow assumed that Dawn hadn’t told her girlfriend the events of the previous day.

“I-I… I don’t know… Dawnie… maybe…” Willow shook her head.

She looked at Rachel and smiled weakly.

“We had a bad fight… ya know… a-and um… needed some time… to think.”

“Oh.” Was all Rae knew to respond.

Willow pursed her lips before looking back at Dawn whose apology was deeply etched into her face.

“Hey… Dawn… can I talk to you… upstairs?”

“Uh… sure.” She flashed a weak smile toward Rae and followed Willow out the kitchen.

Rachel looked around, shrugged, and sat down at the counter, continuing to flip through the catalog.

Upstairs, Willow lead Dawn into her bedroom. Dawn stopped in the doorway, looking at the bed where her and Willow ’s lesson had gone way out of control.  But it wasn’t regret or fear that stopped her.  It was pure out desire.  She thought she had been feeling it for Rae in the kitchen, a byproduct from their awesome kiss.  Up in Willow ’s bedroom however, she knew, that upon seeing Willow again, she was wanting their kiss, Willow ’s hands and thigh, Willow ’s tongue, all over again.  Quickly she cleared her head of all thoughts when the idea of kissing Willow and Rae at the same time flooded her brain.

“You can come in… i-it’s not a crime scene ya know… no yellow tape…”

“Uh… yeah… I know.” Dawn walked into the room and took a seat on the edge of the bed.  If there had been another place to sit she would have but the only other seat beside the one Willow was occupying, was filled with books.

Neither said anything for a few tense moments, each girl looking around nervously.  Even though Willow had brought Dawn upstairs to talk, she was still hoping Dawn would start.

“Okay look-”

Willow I-”

They spoke at the same time, stopping when they realized the other had spoken too.  Both began grinning thankful for a cut in the tension.  Willow moved and sat beside Dawn on the bed just as she had done the day before.

“I’m sorry Willow .” Dawn whispered, the guilt for driving Tara away weighing heavy on her conscience.

“No… listen, it’s my fault… I shouldn’t have…”

“No way… it’s all my fault…”

Both looked at each other, knowing the argument wasn’t winnable.

“How about we just agree that it’s both our faults, and we’re both sorry… and it’ll…”

“Never happen again.” Dawn agreed, nodding her head.

“Right…”

“Uh huh…”

They sat silent beside each other, the awkwardness between them rising again.  Out of habit, Dawn pulled her lip-gloss from her pocket and began the familiar task of coating her lips.

Upon seeing this, Willow inadvertently licked her own lips, remembering the taste of cherries that accompanied their kiss.

<Oh Goddess, what’s wrong with me?> The redhead thought, trying to fight back the urge to kiss Dawn.

Dawn put the cap back on her gloss and motioned to slide it back into her pocket when she caught sight of Willow ’s impassioned stare.

Knowing that Rachel was downstairs, and that the situation had become very intense, Dawn stood up and made her way toward the door.  She stopped in the doorway and turned around to see Willow ’s eyes still on her.  Dawn’s body was buzzing with the memory of Willow ’s hands and mouth, sending shivers of desire straight to her center.

“We kissed.”

“Huh?” Willow was brought out of her daze by Dawn’s matter-of-fact tone. “W-well… yeah…”

“No… I mean…” She looked back toward the stairway. “Rae and I… we kissed today.”

Willow brightened. “Hey! Great! That’s great! How was it?”

She was trying to regain her friend tone, the caring sister/aunt figure that Dawn had come to for advice.  She was trying to push back the feelings of desire the younger girl elicited in her, trying to forget the taste of cherry lip gloss, the soft virgin skin of Dawn’s body. Willow was trying to think only of the familiar form and texture of Tara and her Vanilla, her sandalwood and patchouli.

<Why is this so hard?> She thought.

“It was… wow.”

“That good huh?” Willow asked, clearing her head of naughty Dawn thoughts.

“Oh yeah.”

Willow got up and walked the few steps to Dawn.

“See? I-I told you it was a piece of cake.”

Willow reached out and smoothed a stray piece of hair from Dawn’s face, her fingers lingering a few seconds longer than necessary on the young girl’s temple. Dawn gulped, the new desire rising in her again.  She felt the heat between her legs and it made her quiver at Willow ’s touch.

The redhead noticed the tension too, her own desire building. Her eyes met Dawn’s and for a few quiet moments they stood perfectly still, each only faintly aware that they might be heading back into forbidden waters, but not caring.

“I… I uh…” Dawn tried. Her throat had become so dry however that when she swallowed there was an audible click.

She licked her lips and watched as Willow ’s eyes again followed her tongue.  She wanted to lean forward and let the woman catch her tongue, to taste the redhead again. She thought her heart might beat out of her chest it was thumping so hard.

<This is… SO not right.> Dawn thought.

Watching Dawn lick her lips again was almost too much for Willow as she felt liquid pool in her panties while pleasant memories of the girls lips on her own, her breast in Willow ’s hand, her legs open beneath her danced across the redhead’s mind, wanting, demanding a repeat performance.

Dawn reached out and touched Willow ’s face, letting her fingertips lightly trail the soft skin of her cheekbone until they met wet lips. The redhead closed her eyes, her mouth open slightly, as Dawn’s fingers played over them teasingly. The brunette ran her thumb along Willow ’s bottom lip and was only half surprised when the tip of her tongue flicked at the finger, inviting it inside.  Feeling the excitement dance through her, Dawn slid her thumb between willing lips and gasped when Willow began to suck.

Willow grabbed Dawn’s arm and pulled the young girl closer, continuing to tease the thumb with her tongue while looking Dawn in the eyes, silently telling her that she wanted more.  The younger girl pulled her thumb free and replaced it with her mouth, plunging her tongue into Willow ’s and kissing with a ferocity that surprised both of them.

<So much for never again.> Thought Dawn briefly before Willow shoved her against the wall, the heat of their desire rising up between them, engulfing.

They kissed, silently tugging and pulling on each other’s clothes, skin. They were hot for each other and could not get enough of the other one’s mouth and lips, tongue and taste.  Willow pressed her body into Dawn’s who only squeezed her arms tighter around the redhead.

“Dawn?!”

Frantically the two girls pulled apart, eyes wide, thinking that they had been caught again. Willow ’s head shot around to the door only to see Rachel coming around the corner from the stairway.

“Rachel!” Dawn whispered loudly to Willow , scared that her girlfriend had discovered them.

“Shhh… she didn’t see us.” Willow whispered back before flashing Rachel a smile as she made her way down the hall to them.  Dawn slipped through the door that connected their rooms and reappeared out in the hallway before Rachel had reached her destination.

“Oh hey.” Dawn started, acting surprised. “I was just coming down.”

“Cool.” She looked back into Willow ’s room where the redhead seemed to be tidying up. “I um… hope I didn’t interrupt.”

Dawn tried to act casual but feared that her voice and the sheen of sweat on her brow would give her away.

“Interrupt?” She asked, shaking her head, feigning confusion.

“Uh, yeah… ‘cause you know... Willow wanted to talk to you.”

“Oh!” Dawn brightened, putting on a smile. “We’re done!”

She hooked her arm around the other girl and dragged her back down the hall, glancing back once to see Willow staring at her, lust still dancing in the redhead’s eyes.

Dawn and Rachel lounged on the couch, fingers entwined, feet moving in time to the music videos on the TV.  Willow still hadn’t shown her face after Rachel had interrupted her and Dawn’s game of tonsil hockey and Dawn was slightly relieved.  Her hormones were racing at a frantic pace and being close to Rae was not helping Dawn in the least.  She couldn’t decide whom she wanted more.  There had been a lot of tension between her and Rae since being interrupted in their first attempt at a kiss.  Now that they had actually succeeded in the arena, the tension had turned sexual and Dawn could feel it pouring off of Rae has their thumbs circled the backs of each other’s hands and they stole kisses between the commercial breaks.
